  Build a Little House with a Wicked Side

  Spend your Saturday getting creative at Grey Bruce Makers with a Halloween project that is equal parts building, painting and spooky storytelling.

  In this hands-on workshop, participants will assemble and decorate their own laser-cut wooden witch house, turning a collection of precision-cut pieces into a one-of-a-kind Halloween creation.

  Once your house is built, the real personality begins. Paint it spooky, whimsical, colourful or wonderfully weird, then create small handmade ghosts, pumpkins and other characters to bring your miniature Halloween scene to life.

  No two witch houses will be the same.

  WHAT YOU’LL DO

  Build It – Assemble a custom laser-cut wooden witch house made right here at Grey Bruce Makers.

  Make It Yours – Use paint, colour and decorative details to create your own Halloween style.

  Create the Needle Felt Characters – Make small ghosts, pumpkins and other spooky inhabitants to populate your witchy world.

  Build the Scene – Combine your house and characters into a finished Halloween display you can bring out year after year.

  PERFECT FOR A CREATIVE SATURDAY

  This workshop is designed to be relaxed, social and beginner-friendly. Come with a friend, bring your child 12+ for a creative day together, or simply carve out a few hours to make something wonderfully spooky.

  No previous building or art experience is required. We’ll provide the materials, guidance and creative space—you bring the imagination.

  ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTOR

  Dianne Bray is a local artist who brings creativity, imagination and a love of hands-on making to her workshops. She’ll guide participants through the construction and decorating process while helping everyone put their own personality into their finished piece.

  MAKE YOUR OWN WITCHY BROOM

  Whether you’re looking for a seasonal decoration, a statement piece for your front porch, or simply a slightly more stylish mode of transportation, this workshop is for you.

  Join us for a relaxed, creative afternoon building and decorating your very own decorative Halloween broom using natural materials, seasonal textures and plenty of personality.

  Participants will start with a broom handle and transform it into something completely unique using foliage, feathers, dried flowers, string and beautiful decorative elements.

  Rustic. Elegant. Spooky. Wild. There’s no wrong direction.

  WHAT YOU’LL DO

  Build Your Broom – Learn how to assemble and secure the main components of your decorative broom.

  Choose Your Style – Work with seasonal foliage, dried flowers, feathers, fibres and other materials to create your own look.

  Add the Details – Layer textures, colours and adornments to give your broom character.

  Make It Personal – Bring along any special materials, charms or decorations you’d like to incorporate into your finished piece.

  If you have a unique branch, handle or piece of wood you’ve been saving for the perfect project, bring it along.

  DRESSING THE PART IS ENCOURAGED

  Want to lean into the theme? Witch hats, dramatic sleeves and other seasonal attire are absolutely welcome.

  Come with a friend, make an afternoon of it, and leave with a handmade Halloween decoration that is completely your own.

  No previous experience required. Materials are supplied.

  Jennifer Harris is an artist and maker who enjoys helping people explore materials, experiment with ideas and create pieces that feel personal and original. Her workshops are approachable, creative and focused on enjoying the process as much as the finished piece.
