Course Policies & Cancellations |
Before You RegisterWe know plans can change. At the same time, our courses have limited spaces, instructors who have committed their time, and materials that are often purchased and prepared specifically for each participant. For that reason, course registrations are non-refundable. Depending on how much notice you provide, you may be eligible to receive a credit toward a future Grey Bruce Makers course. Cancellation CreditsCancellation notice is measured from the scheduled start time of your course. |
More Than 72 Hours Before Your CourseReceive a 100% course credit for the amount paid. Your credit can be applied toward another eligible Grey Bruce Makers course. | 24–72 Hours Before Your CourseReceive a 50% course credit for the amount paid. The remaining amount helps cover instructor commitments, administration and materials already prepared for the course. | Less Than 24 Hours Before Your CourseUnfortunately, no course credit is available for cancellations made less than 24 hours before the scheduled start time. No credit is available once a course has begun. |
Important Course Policies
LATE ARRIVALS Many Grey Bruce Makers courses include important safety instruction at the beginning of the session. Participants arriving more than 15 minutes late without contacting us may not be able to participate, particularly in courses involving machinery, tools or required safety orientations. If you know you are going to be late, please contact us as soon as possible. IF GBM CANCELS A COURSE Occasionally, we may need to cancel or postpone a course because of instructor availability, weather, insufficient registration or other unforeseen circumstances. Whenever possible, we will move registrations to a rescheduled or future session. If Grey Bruce Makers cancels a course and an appropriate replacement date is not available, participants may choose to receive a full course credit or refund. PAYMENT & REGISTRATION Course spaces are limited and registration is confirmed once payment has been received. We cannot guarantee or hold a course space without completed registration and payment. | MULTI-SESSION COURSES For courses that take place over multiple dates, cancellation credits are only available before the first session begins. Once the first session has started, no credit is available for missed sessions or withdrawal from the remainder of the course. WEATHER, EMERGENCIES & FACILITY CLOSURES If programming is affected by severe weather, an emergency, facility closure or another circumstance outside our control, Grey Bruce Makers may postpone, reschedule or cancel the affected course. We will communicate any changes to registered participants as quickly as possible. NO CREDIT AFTER STARTING No workshop credit is offered under any circumstances once a workshop, or the first date of a multi-session workshop, has begun. |
Why We Have This Policy
Grey Bruce Makers intentionally keeps many courses small so participants receive meaningful hands-on instruction.
Your registration reserves:
- A place that another participant may be waiting for
- Instructor time
- Equipment and workspace
- Course materials and consumables
- Administrative and preparation time
Providing as much notice as possible gives us the best opportunity to offer your space to someone else.

Please let us know as soon as possible.
When contacting us, include:
- The name used to make the registration
- The course name
- The course date
We’ll confirm your cancellation and let you know what course credit is available under the policy above.
