YOUR PROJECT. YOUR PACE. A COACH BESIDE YOU.
Sometimes a general woodworking class isn’t what you need.
Sometimes you need time with an experienced woodworker who can answer your questions, help you work through a problem, show you the right technique and then stand beside you while you do the work yourself.
Woodshop Coaching with Ron Farino is a four-session personalized learning experience built around your goals, your experience and what you want to make.
Work one-on-one with Ron or bring one other person and learn together. With a maximum of only two participants, Ron can tailor the program to your individual needs while giving you plenty of meaningful, hands-on time in the woodshop.
Whether you are starting from scratch, trying to build confidence, learning new tools, tackling a personal project or looking for help getting unstuck, this program is designed to meet you where you are.
A KINDER WAY TO LEARN
Ron brings patience, kindness and a calm, supportive approach to the woodshop.
His teaching is grounded in the idea that people learn differently and that confidence grows when there is room to ask questions, make mistakes and try again without judgement.
The learning environment is intentionally supportive and trauma-aware, with an emphasis on respect, clear communication and practical encouragement.
No pressure to already know what you’re doing. No expectation that you get everything right the first time.
Just thoughtful coaching, real shop time and steady progress.
HOW EACH SESSION WORKS
Each three-hour session follows a simple structure so there is time to talk, learn and most importantly, make.
30 Minutes — Check-In & Plan
Review your progress, set the goals for the session and identify the tools or techniques you’ll be working on.
2 Hours — Workshop & Coaching
Get into the shop. Build, practise, troubleshoot and learn with Ron working alongside you.
30 Minutes — Review & Next Steps
Look at what you accomplished, answer questions and create a clear plan for the next session.
WHAT CAN YOU WORK ON?
Your coaching program can focus on:
- Building a personal woodworking project
- Learning unfamiliar woodshop tools
- Improving measuring, layout and accuracy
- Joinery and construction techniques
- Tool setup and safe operation
- Developing an idea into a buildable project
- Getting an unfinished project moving again
- Solving woodworking problems
- Building confidence working independently in the shop
Beginners are absolutely welcome.
ONE-ON-ONE OR TWO-PERSON COACHING
Choose one-on-one coaching for the most personalized experience, or bring one other person and learn together.
The two-person option is ideal for friends, partners, family members, parents and older youth, or two makers who want to develop their skills side by side.
With a maximum of two people, both participants receive significant individual attention while still enjoying the energy of learning together.
