Curious about how AI can actually help with CNC design — beyond just generating cool-looking pictures?

Join fellow Grey Bruce Makers members for a collaborative AI for CNC Makers Skill Share, where we’ll work through the AI for CNC Makers training from Learn Your CNC Academy together and explore how AI tools can become a practical part of the CNC design process.

This is not a traditional instructor-led course. One of our GBM members has purchased the online training and is hosting a group learning experience so members can watch, experiment, troubleshoot and share what they discover along the way.

The course focuses on using AI specifically for CNC workflows — from generating project ideas and artwork to creating vectors, 3D models and files that can be brought into programs such as Vectric, Carveco, Easel and Fusion.

WHAT WE’LL EXPLORE

AI for Project Inspiration
Use AI to brainstorm project ideas, explore different styles and turn rough concepts into clearer design directions.

Creating CNC-Friendly Artwork
Learn techniques for generating cleaner artwork and vector-style designs that require less cleanup before importing into CNC software.

AI-Assisted 3D Modeling
Explore ways AI can help generate 3D models and relief designs suitable for CNC carving while preserving detail and depth.

Better AI Prompting
Learn how to structure and refine prompts to get more predictable, usable results instead of constantly starting over.

Bringing AI Designs into CNC Software
Work with SVG and STL files, refine generated designs and prepare them for practical toolpaths and machining.

AI as a Shop Assistant
Explore ways AI can help with planning, problem-solving, design development and other parts of the CNC workflow.

HOW THE SKILL SHARE WORKS

This is a learn-along format.

We’ll work through sections of the online course together in the GBM classroom, pause to discuss what we’re learning, try techniques ourselves and help each other work through questions and challenges.

Bring your laptop if you have one and be ready to experiment.

You do not need to be an AI expert. The original course is designed to be approachable for beginners and CNC hobbyists, and the techniques can be used with most CNC design software capable of importing SVG or STL files.
